Today’s Throwback Thursday photo comes from Afghanistan, which hosted Peace Corps Volunteers from 1962–79. Afghanistan was one of the first countries to partner with the agency. In all, 1,652 Volunteers served in the agriculture, community economic development, education, health and youth development sectors. Projects in the Central Asian country included university-level teaching in English, mathematics, engineering, architecture and business.
