“I took this photo-during one of my sewing workshops in Nagado, Fiji. The most important part of the workshop is to show the villagers how to repair their own machines. This elderly woman is repairing her own sewing machine. Ana, the village leader’s wife, said with tears in her eyes, ‘These 20 American-made machines needed an American to come in to help bring them back to life.’ They had been sitting-broken and rusted for 20 years or more.”
