“I took this photo-during one of my sewing workshops in Nagado, Fiji. The most important part of the workshop is to show the villagers how to repair their own machines. This elderly woman is repairing her own sewing machine. Ana, the village leader’s wife, said with tears in her eyes, ‘These 20 American-made machines needed an American to come in to help bring them back to life.’ They had been sitting-broken and rusted for 20 years or more.”
“She was playing with her brother and one of the other neighbor’s kids on the porch and came over to say hi to me. She didn’t speak any English and I was still learning Fiji Hindi, so our conversations were limited to "hello."” - Peace Corps Fiji Volunteer Timithy Singer http://bit.ly/1M5JGWQ
